ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Analyzes product specifications and performance requirements to determine designs, which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
- Determines feasibility of designing new product or modifying existing product designs to meet customer requirements for quotation as well as manufacture.
- Provides technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations, which affect long-range plant and product engineering planning.
- Prepares or directs all item master listings and bills of materials.
- Confers with all departments and customers to prepare design modifications as required.
- Works with customers and sales on design related issues or problems related to our products.
- Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
- Confers with customers and quality personnel on revisions or updates to quality specifications and/or manuals associated with the quality of the parts manufactured.
- Works with purchasing on the procurement and picking of raw, hardware & software components.
- Prepares department budgets, tracks status of spending in relationship to plans.
- Responsible for employee relations including pay reviews, disciplinary actions, vacations and other HR related items.
- Approves or directs engineering change program, drawing approval for quotations and production releases.
- Establish engineering calculations, raw materials, software and hardware.
- Responsible for all engineering systems and data.
- Responsible for prioritizing all engineering projects and prepares status reports as necessary.
- Provides department training for development of employees in all aspects of their job duties.
- Work with production and quality on non-conformance issues.
- Write necessary reports associated with job performance including trip reports and inspection reports.
- Work on cost reductions and inventory consolidation or reduction.
- Responsible for all engineering support documentation including test & welding specifications.
- Responsible for service manuals, service support and also service school training.
- Responsible for R&D regarding all Seabee products. Includes analyzing test information, field information, and customer feedback and product performance.
- Provide Sales support for key major accounts.
- Ability to travel extensively.
Responsible to maintain a clean and safe work area consistent with the Company’s housekeeping
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in mechanical engineering, manufacturing technology or related field from four-year college or university
- 10 to 15 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Applicant must have experience in industrial manufacturing and process controls, capital project management. Directs, leads and coordinates activities of engineering department to provide direct support to Sales, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Quality regarding implementing changes to design documents, components, and processes.
- Responsible for supporting Engineering Change Order activities associated with products manufactured.
- Devises and implements design, document and process improvements to improve quality, reduce costs, and speed products to market.
- Supervises department personnel (4-10).
- The ability to conceive and implement corrective engineering designs into existing equipment at minimum cost/time impact must be demonstrated. Must know AutoCAD, and SolidWorks, Microsoft Applications - Word, Excel, & PPT.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with an ability to communicate motivate and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to deal with a variety of cultural settings and differences. Willingness to travel extensively.
