Process Engineer

Accountabilities and Specific Requirements:
  • Provide leadership over Process Safety practices by developing and continuously enhancing Process Safety related methodologies such as Process Hazard Analysis, Layers of Protection Analysis, and Management of Change
  • Participate and/or lead Process Hazard Analyses; facilitate management review and acceptance of PHA recommendations, LOP, and recommended process designs and changes.
  • Provide process engineering and process safety review of Management of Change driven work
  • Provide leadership over in-depth evaluation of process design and process safety reviews and analysis when required
  • Quickly learn and understand pipeline operation, hydraulics, and process control to a level that allows application to review/approval of process design, process safety impacts, and operations impacts
  • Participation (and leadership) over operating procedure changes and development including temporary shutdown and restart procedures
  • Ability to identify and resolve non-routine and complex problems
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to resolve complex problems
  • Ability to develop executive summaries and present data that allows management understanding of issues and proposed solutions
  • Ability to coordinate work between Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering  organizations to achieve results.
 Requirements
Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Four (4) years of related experience
  • Broad technical knowledge of multiple areas of discipline including: OSHA Process Safety Management Regulation, industrial operations; including utilization of control systems in this environment.
  • Knowledge of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures within discipline area, such as; utilizing Management of Change protocols for process and operational changes
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to travel for business up to 20% of the time

Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, petroleum, or mechanical engineering
  • 10 years of combined operations, process, and process safety engineering in chemicals, refining, petrochemicals or related industries.
  • Demonstrated understanding of pipeline hydraulics with modeling experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading Process Hazard Analysis and Layers of Protection Analysis
  • Demonstrated understanding of advanced process design and process control design as it applies to new and modified processes
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement safety interlock(s) as a layer of protection
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pipeline pigging operations
  • Experience with remote, control room operation with demonstrated ability to develop/modify operating procedures
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of transmitters and instrumentation
