Food Safety Specialist – HACCP and QMS
Our client is a major independent research organisation with an international reputation for its work with the food and drink industry.Their clients range from major blue-chip multi-national companies to small and focused businesses, with their overall role to provide independent advice and services to ensure product safety, to improve product quality and to stimulate product, packaging and process innovation.
Due to continued growth they are seeking a graduate to join their HACCP & Quality Management Section as a Food Safety Specialist. The Section provides high quality HACCP and QMS support to the food manufacturing sector.This is achieved mostly through running training courses, providing guidance and performing audits.The services are offered to the UK and overseas client base, generally where English is the first language.
The purpose of this role is to provide an increasing level of input to the food safety management training, auditing and consultancy activities of the organisation.This will involve the development, planning and delivery of a spectrum of training and consultancy services with a particular focus on developing expertise and services in the field of raw materials risk assessment.
Duties
Helping to develop and maintain risk assessment and food safety management course materials.
Business development of food safety management based project opportunities.
Business development of risk assessment services and projects.
Management and delivery of client specific projects, e.g. training, consultancy and auditing.
Acting as a lead tutor on scheduled training courses.
Candidate
Relevant food science degree or equivalent.
Understanding of the application of risk assessment to food safety.
Understanding of effective Business Management Systems.
Understanding of developing and implementing HACCP based systems.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Effective time management and financial awareness.
Some exposure to the food manufacturing industry and an appreciation of the supply chain – from raw materials, processing, through to retail.
Full UK/EU driving licence, ability to travel freely within the EU.
Candidate Development – Training supported by the organisation
You can expect to achieve the following while working at the company:
Level 4 (Advanced) HACCP qualification.
Practical experience of developing, implementing, maintaining or assessing risk assessment or HACCP based systems.
Train the trainers qualification.
Trained lead auditor for food safety management systems.
