Wits University is officially the first University in SA to gain HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) Certification through their partnership with RoyalMnandi, an out-sourced catering company that caters to four dining halls on the Wits Campus. There is a greater need to combat the increasing incidences of food-related deaths and diseases, and by implementing the HACCP system (and using it as a call to action rather than just a paper-pushing tool), RoyalMnandi hopes to control the food processes on the campus throughout the food supply chain.
“Achieving HACCP certification is an outstanding achievement and it has taken complete commitment and teamwork from all management and staff involved to get to this point. We are extremely proud to be the first catering company as well as tertiary institution to have this food safety system certified. Our thanks also go to Tpro Food Consulting Services, our advisory company, who worked hand-in-hand with us in the development, implementation and training of the HACCP System,” says Analene Coetzer Project Manager for RoyalMnandi
